Whether a client is buying their first piece or adding to an existing collection, the process of acquiring art should be fun and informative. With a curatorial eye, Ann will help new and aspiring collectors figure out where to begin and for more established buyers, where to add to their collection. In looking for art, she closely considers a client’s sense of their home, their aesthetic preferences, and their budget.
Once a client has identified a particular artist or medium, Ann will help navigate the many paths through which art is purchased such as local and national galleries, auctions, the internet, or directly from the artist. As a result of years of experience in the art world, Ann has an extensive network of knowledgeable experts in museums and galleries. ABR’s ultimate goal in helping to acquire art is to find something that is unique to the client’s taste, enhances the identity of their home, and conveys a specific feeling to those who live there and those who visit.
Ann’s vision and energy will revitalize your space. Working closely with clients and designers, she assesses the contents of a room and will move furniture and accents to make the most advantageous use of space and light to highlight a new piece of art or something currently in your collection.
Ann also works with a professional installer when needed for placements that include a more complicated layout or prove challenging due to conditions in an older home.
There are an endless number of variations in framing in regards to materials, colors, scale, and presentation. ABR will guide you through this process and help to simplify your options. In addition to advising on framing new works, Ann also helps to rework older pieces or repair worn frames to reinvigorate the art.
ABR works closely with the Metropolitan Frame Company. Metropolitan is deeply involved in both the regional and national markets, working in the National Portrait Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Smithsonian Institute and even the White House.
A change of space, a fresh look, a remodel, a different sense of scale in a room, or even a new paint color may necessitate a change in a client’s collection. For those looking to evolve or downsize, Ann helps to bring your art directly to the marketplace through either a private sale or an auction. Whether it is a few pieces or several, Ann works directly with several companies such as Sotheby’s, Christie’s, and Leslie Hindman Auctioneers to make this process as seamless and beneficial as possible for her clients.
